Beware Phone Scam:
Recently the Gloucester Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service has received a few inquiries from citizens in the community regarding the legitimacy of a department fundraising campaign involving the sale of “refrigerator calendar magnets.” They report receiving calls from 281-436-9438 (Houston Texas area) trying to solicit money on behalf of the GVFRS in exchange for the magnets. Sheriff Warren has spoken with GVFRS Chief J. D. Clements who has confirmed that this is not a legitimate fundraising effort for their agency. Anyone who receives these types of calls should ignore them, and please, if you speak with them do not make any purchases or donations.
