Brush Fire on Belroi Road
On April 6, 2015 at approximately 3:30pm Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded to Belroi Rd for a report of a brush fire. Upon arrival, fire was found in a cutover. It took units approximately one and a half hours to extinguish the fire and ensure all hot spots were out. In all, approximately one and half acres was involved. GVFRS responded one engine, two brush trucks, one tanker, one medic unit, and approximately 17 members. Chief JD Clements was in command.
GVFRS Chief JD Clements would like to remind residents to be aware of the dry conditions. With the brown, dry vegetation, the possibility of a controlled burn to get out of control is high. That risk is increased even more on days with low humidity and high winds. Also, the 4pm burn law continues to be in effect until April 30, 2015.
