Fire Prevention Week, October 4 – 10, 2015

October 4 – 10, 2015 is Fire Prevention Week. This year the theme is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Every bedroom needs a working smoke alarm.” Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. would like to take the opportunity to encourage everyone to make sure they have working smoke detectors in their home, especially in every bedroom. It is important to test your smoke detectors monthly, as well as take the time to check the date on your smoke detectors. Ten years is the maximum life span of a smoke detector, after which time they are not as effective and should be replaced. Anyone with questions can contact Station 1 at 693-2148 and leave a message for our Prevention Lieutenant Troy Ellis, or he can be contacted via email at fftwe1000@gmail.com.
