Oil Truck Rollover

Oil Truck Rollover

An oil truck carrying 2500 gallons of fuel oil and kerosene rolled onto it's drivers side on a slippery road.  The driver, although pinned in the vehicle for over an hour, was not injured.  The position of the vehicle left nearly all of the weight of the vehicle and cargo pressing down on the driver's side of the cab, making the hydraulic tools all but useless.  This was one of the most complex extrications GVFRS has ever had.  Excellent teamwork by members of GVFRS, Abingdon Fire, the sheriff's office, and the wrecker company resulted in a safe extrication of the patient and containment of the truck's hazardous materials.
