Safety Awareness Day

Each year, GVFRS participates in Fire Prevention Week by teaching our area elementary school students about fire safety, conducting inspections, and inviting organizations into our stations.

The week culminates in a "Safety Awarenes Day" demonstration.  This year's displays included ambulances and fire trucks from Gloucester and Abingdon, the LifeEvac 3 helicopter, Va. Department of Forestry, Gloucester Sheriff's Office, and Virginia State Police.

The key event each year includes a vehicle extrication demonstration where we show the power of the "Jaws of Life".
