2012 4PM Burn Law Feb 15 – Apr 30

Virginia’s 4pm Burning Law is in effect from February 15 – April 30, 2012.

Smokey Bear wants to remind you that wildfires do not have to happen.  More than 90% of all wildfires in Virginia are caused by human carelessness and therefore can be prevented.  You need to take responsibility for your outdoor fires and obey all state and local restrictions.

During the period from February 15 through April 30 it shall be unlawful for any person to have an outdoor fire located in or within 300 feet of any woodland, brushland, or field containing dry grass or other inflammable material except between the hours of 4pm and midnight.
