Weekly Call Summary June 15 – 21, 2014

Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded to the following calls between June 15 and 21, 2014:

On June 20, 2014 at approximately 11:20pm Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded to Catlett Rd for a report of smoke in a residence. Upon arrival, the homeowners had already evacuated the structure uninjured, and smoke was noted from the front of the structure. Upon further investigation it was found that there was fire located in the kitchen. GVFRS extinguished the fire, and fire damage was contained to the kitchen. There was smoke damage throughout the first and second floor. The homeowners were alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors, and the house was equipped a sprinkler system that did activate. GVFRS responded four engines, one rescue truck, one medic unit and 19 members. AVFR also responded one engine and two members mutual aid. Assistant Chief Terry McGregor was in command.
