EMS Junior Squad
The GVFRS EMS Junior Squad is a structured and supervised environment
that allows high school students (16 and older) the chance to ride along and
participate in patient care. Junior Squad members receive training and work
with duty crews to check, inventory, and test equipment. Members may
participate in patient care up to their level of training and gain valuable
experience towards obtaining or advancing EMT certifications.
Junior Squad members must be at least 16 years old to join, may be on duty
for a limited number of hours per month, and are not allowed to stay at the
station over night.
Members are encouraged to attend departmental training and meetings and meet
periodically to discuss Junior Squad issues. A company line officer is assigned
to oversee the Junior Squad program.
