Press Release – 5 Openings for Junior Rescue

The Gloucester Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc would like to announce 5 openings on the Junior Rescue Squad. The Junior Rescue Squad members are high school students, age 15 – 18 who are allowed to participate in various activities with GVFRS. Those activities include a running rescue squad duty at least 8 hours a month, attending various Junior Squad and GVFRS functions and meetings, as well as help to sponsor the fire department’s annual blood drive. Junior Squad members are required to be Gloucester County citizens, attend at least 50% of the Junior Squad meetings each year, obtain a certification level of at least First Responder within 12 months of becoming a member, obtain and maintain a CPR certification, and maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 in school.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the GVFRS Junior Rescue Squad can stop by Station 1, 6595 Main St in Gloucester, and pick up an application. There is currently no due date for the applications. Additional information regarding eligibility and requirements of Junior Squad members can be found in the application packet.
