On April 24, 2014 at approximately 6:50am Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded to a report of a strong smell smoke in the area of Batt Rd. Units arrived in the area and initial investigation found an unoccupied dwelling and vehicle that had burned sometime during the night. Additional units responded to assist in extinguishing hot spots and the subsequent brush fire surrounding the house. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries on scene. Three engines, one brush truck, one tanker, and 10 members responded. Lieutenant Jamie Miller was in command.
