1 Investigation of house struck by lightning with no fire found
On Jul 17, 2014 at approximately 8:45 am, Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded to a report of a structure fire on Indian Rd. Initial dispatch information stated the stove was on fire. Upon arrival, crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which was contained to the kitchen. There were no injuries on scene, and the cause appears to be related to the gas stove. GVFRS responded four engines, one medic unit, and approximately 13 members. Chief JD Clements was in command.
On July 20, 2014 at approximately 1:40am, Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded to a report of a structure fire on Shady Ln. A neighbor called in stating they could see flames from the house next door, and they were unsure if the occupants were out. Upon arrival of the first units heavy fire was found coming from half of the house. The occupants had already exited the structure after being alerted by smoke detectors and no one was injured. Extinguishment and overhaul took just over two hours. The cause appeared to be electrical in nature. GVFRS responded five engines, one tanker, one medic unit, and approximately 21 members. Chief JD Clements was in command.
