Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc responded to the following calls between March 30 and Aril 5, 2014:
56 Medical Calls
5 Motor Vehicle Collisions
1 Structure Fire
1 Fire Alarm
On April 4, 2014 at approximately 6:20pm GVFRS responded to a report of a structure fire on George Ln. The homeowner stated that the porch of his house was on fire. Upon arrival the fire had been extinguished by the homeowner. Further investigation found that the brush under the porch had caught on fire and there was no damage to the structure. The fire was caused by embers from welding. A total of 2 engines, 1 tanker, 1 medic unit, and approximately 15 members responded. There were no injuries.
On April 7, 2014 at approximately 2:45pm GVFRS responded to a report of a structure fire on Oneil Rd. The caller stated that the hay loft in the barn was on fire. Upon arrival, fire and heavy smoke were showing through the roof. The property owner was able to get all the animals out of the barn, and there were no injuries on scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Four engines, one tanker, one medic, and approximately 30 members responded from GVFRS. AVFR responded one engine, one tanker, and approximately 10 members. Units were on scene for approximately 4 hours extinguishing the fire and conducting overhaul operations.
