On May 20, 2015 at approximately 1:10am, Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded for a report of smoke and a glow in the sky called in by a resident in the area of Rich Ln. Upon arrival units found a fully involved structure fire. It was determined that the occupants of the residence were not home. Five engines, one tanker, one rescue truck, one ambulance, and approximately 21 members responded. Units remained on scene for just over five hours extinguishing the fire and conducting overhaul operations. There were no injuries on scene. Lower King and Queen Volunteer Fire Department and Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue each responded mutual aid with a tanker for water supply. Captain Jim Gilsinan was in command.
