Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad Inc responded to the following calls between November 20 and 26, 2016:

On November 20, 2016 at approximately 7:05pm Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded for a report of a camper on fire on Lee Rd. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single unoccupied camper fully involved. The fire was knocked down quickly, and crews were on scene for just over an hour. There were no injuries on scene. Three engines, one tanker, one rescue, one medic unit, and approximately 15 members responded. The cause of the fire was electrical in nature. Assistant Chief Trey Rilee was in command.
On November 27, 2016 at approximately 4:15pm Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded for a report of a structure fire on Island Rd. The caller stated that his attached garage was on fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a approximately 4500 sq. ft. one and a half story house , heavy fire coming from the attached garage that quickly spread to the attic area of the house, as well as a vehicle on fire in front of the garage. All occupants were out of the house, and one person was assessed but not treated or transported. Firefighters worked quickly to knock down the fire, and were on scene for approximately three and a half hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations. Four engines, one tanker, one rescue truck, one medic unit, and approximately 27 members responded. Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and Lower King & Queen Volunteer Fire Department each responded a tanker mutual aid. The cause of the fire was a grill too close to the structure. Four adults were displaced from the home, and Red Cross was on scene assisting the residents as GVFRS units cleared. Assistant Chief Trey Rilee was in command.
