Gloucester Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. responded to the following calls between October 13 and 19:
65 Medical Calls
10 Motor Vehicle Collisions
4 Fire Alarms
1 Structure Fire
1 Landing Zone
1 Mutual to Lower King and Queen for a Structure Fire
1 Special Duty,
Medic standby at the Battle of the Hook
GVFRS responded to a structure fire on Ocotber 16 on Sawmill Ln. The fire, believed to be electrical in nature, started in a bedroom. GVFRS had 38 members on scene, and responded 6 engines and 1 tanker. Mathews Volunteer Fire Department responded mutual aid with both apparatus and personnel. Assistance Chief Jon Williams was in command.
GVFRS also responded mutual aid to Lower King and Queen for a structure fire located on Buena Vista Rd just across the county line. The fire started in the kitchen, and was extinguished by LK&Q Volutneer Fire Department just prior to GVFRS arrival. GVFRS responded 1 engine and 1 tanker, along with 13 people to assist with overhaul and other fire ground operations.
